Description
“Kill devil” is the former name that rum was known by in the Caribbean in the 17th & 18th centuries. This Jamaican rum distilled at the Hampden Estate is a 13-year-old single cask bottling. The estate, among the oldest in Jamaican rum production, makes what is arguably the most quintessential spirit on the island. Their four “double retort” pot stills, which Jamaica is so famous for, churn out one of the most ester-ey, funky, oily, and bright flavour-bombs in the whole industry.
This run of just 269 bottles, distilled in 2007, was matured both tropically and continentally. How long exactly it spent aging in the tropics is unknown. Continental aging is carried out at their facility in Glasgow, Scotland.
The rums in the “Kill Devil” series by Hunter Laing are never chill filtered or coloured.
