Description
A breath of new life was given to Château Cambon in 1995 when a trio of legendary Beaujolais producers, Marcel and Marie Lapierre (Domaine Lapierre), in partnership with Jean-Claude Chanudet (Domaine Chamonard) recognised the incredible potential of a 13ha plot of land juuuust outside of the official Cru appellations.
That original 13ha parcel, though neighbouring the Cru of Morgon, belongs to the village of Saint-Jean-d’Ardières. The three sub-plots within were planted in 1914 on a mix of clayey granite, and calcareous sands that give in equal parts a wine with structure, poise, and incredible profundity.
They have expanded the holdings of this domaine over the years, and with the same mindset that led them to purchase that original non-Cru parcel of land, they’ve acquired this one too: a single hectare plot of 80 year old vines belonging to the village of Cercié, juuuust outside of the north end of the Brouilly Cru, and the south end of the Morgon Cru.
