Description

Château Cambon is quickly becoming one of our favourite Beaujolais producers, with each of their expressions really highlighting what older vines can bring to the table.

Gang of four/five adjacent, a breath of new life was given to Château Cambon in 1995 when a trio of legendary Beaujolais producers, Marcel and Marie Lapierre (Domaine Lapierre), in partnership with Jean-Claude Chanudet (Domaine Chamonard) recognised the incredible potential of a 13ha plot of land juuuust outside of the official Cru appellations.

While that project proves that it isn’t just the recognised Crus that can make stunning Beaujolais, they have also expanded the holdings to a Beaujolais-Villages, and this, a plot in the Cru of Brouilly.

Their 2ha plot is in the northeast of the appellation, in a little arena/amphitheatre facing Mont Brouilly that soaks up the evening sun. Their 65 year old vines, all farmed organically, create such a profound wine. It has all the pleasant red cherry/plum notes that is typical of the Cru, but with so much more depth – savoury notes, a bit of cinnamon, and much better structure than is typical of Brouilly.
