Description
The De Martino family is now on their fourth generation, having farmed vines in the Maipo sub-region of the Central Valley in Chile sine 1934. They have projects further south in Itata now where their Cinsault/Muscat is grown, but their Ungrafted Cabernet is still from the original property on the alluvial gravel soils of the former river bed. Since Chile has never had phylloxera, these vines as the name of the wine states, are not grafted onto rootstock. They’re own rooted, and thus behave more like the plant once would have before much of the world was forced to graft on phylloxera resistant root stocks.
