Description
Located in the village of Courgis just to the southwest of the town of Chablis, the family estate cultivates 17 hectares of vines. The plots are mainly planted on very steep hillsides on the famed Kimmeridgian limestone soils that gives Chablis its unmistakible character. Little else can be divined about the producer since they fly practically entirely under the radar and don’t operate a website, which is fine. The wine speaks for itself, and it sure speaks eloquently.
Their old vines give rise to an absolutely textbook, quintessential Chablis: intensely mineral, elevated-yet-balanced acidity, pinpoint presicion of lemon rind, lime zest, apples, pears, lily of the valley and other blossoms. One could wax poetic about it. It sees some time on lees, but not any excessive amount of time, and certainly no lees stirring during batonnage. It has just enough lees contact to give it some richness and a sort of stately feel, but otherwise is incredibly fresh and bright.
